Before the first use, boil the straws in salt water for 3 minutes. After every use, hand wash in warm soapy water with the cleaning brush provided. Tip: rinse your straw immediately after use so the residues don't have time to dry in your straw. This will make it easier to clean.
Every month or when needed, soak your straws in a boiled vinegar water mix (1 : 20) for 10 minutes. This will disinfect your straws.
Sure ! Your bamboo straws are 100% compostable. When you feel like disposing of your straw, you can throw it in the compost bin. As they are organic and free of chemicals, they will they won't leave anything bad behind.
Please do not throw them in the garbage as the conditions in landfills make it almost impossible for biodegradables to properly degrade.
Yes, you can put your bamboo straws in the dishwasher but you need to turn off the hot and dry function. Therefore, we recommend to hand wash with the cleaning brush and disinfect your straws once a month.
You can hand wash your glass straws in soapy water using your cleaning brush. The smaller straws should easily be cleaned without a brush (the coconut fiber fits a little tight) as they are mostly used for clear liquids such as soda, water and coffee. We were not ready to give in to plastic brushes!
